Politics Power and Resistance

History 357

Politics and power is a dirty business. Once a politician absorbed power from people, if he wants to he can abuse power and betrayed his own people. It is people duty to elect right person in government. Educated people can identify these politicians motive. When some sweet talker politicians lying and giving false hope to people, uneducated people believe without verification and justification; and politician like these brainless people to gain power. According to the story “Hirak Rajar Deshe”[1], the famous script “ More a person is educated, less he disobey his king”; so in the story, king ban all school to control his kingdom unfairly. This idea was used in past and using today to discourage students to get education by increasing tuition fees.

Blog6 photo German education was controlled by Nazi during ww2; so, people ware highly educated on Nazi evil concept against humanity. In fact, in any society, the revolution against humanity start from middle class educated people. In Germany “White rose”, a secret organization of university students in Munich lead by Sophia Scholl and her brother Hans was an example. This small organization protest against Nazi party’s evil activities. They tried to create a movement in Germany and relies many Leaflets, but before they gain enough support from people they get murdered by Nazi government. According to history most of the political movement founder get killed, and many carry-ons his legacy by the next successor. A murdered political activist can be more powerful then a government, if the message can reach to people and people understand the message.

Resistance against any unfair government have a consequence. Look around you, even today, if anyone talk against our government, he/she will be harassment by government. For an example, during Iraq war Cats Stevens[2] the writer if “peace train” get deported. Even our former secretary of state (Colin Powell) has to resigned because he was against some of the Bush’s foreign policy. Colin Powell on his famous “you break it, you own it” was a back slash of Bush administration. This is a soft resistance against his boss. So, anything wrong we should speak out if we care our future or current generation. If we don’t protest any wrong doing by government, we all will be squeeze by few people who got the power from us. We should remember, we people created government, not government created us.
